“An ode to childhood”

Gliding my hand over the rusty bannister

Gazing across the night smitten fields

I promenade down the cobbled walkway

Cherishing the sonnets of wintery fog

Nostalgia is lucid in gossamer hush

Trailing my steps with its swampy touch_

Revealing a little girl in floral sundress

Or in a fur cape, tugging at her mittens

When the world was a canvas of smiles

When seasons were derivatives of hope_

I long to snuggle back into those moments

Like a child in the arms of doting mother

I long to gush towards that timeless mooring_

Where memories aren’t stamps of yore

Where their essence isn’t spilled out

Albeit written in the constitution of eternity_

So I could reclaim the unscathed stardust

Once glittered in the heart & eyes

Then life grew into a secret marauder

& Looted all the magic from innocence

I want to resurrect the spell of ignorance

Gliding my hand over the rusty bannister

Gazing across the night smitten fields…

This is a dedication to the days when everything’s dreamy & life is without those invisible vicious tentacles which, later on, start poisoning almost every discovery made during this journey of living. But one can’t back off from knowing & moving on; because this is what life becomes. This is about ugly truths, we all as adults, confront, try to find joys amid them & go on.
